Hi guys,

If the tournament start tomorrow and I'm allocated the "Host" spot, Evgendil will host the game and take my position and I take his.

I'm going to Scotland for the British Open and won't be back until Monday evening, I will join the game then!

Looking forward to a good tournament and curious to see who we will face!

Good news! Triumph solved the issue with upload of mods on Steam's workshop so the main mod was updated: http://steamcommunity.com/sha... All your games playing with the balance mod should be automatically updated for Steam users, and for GoG ones (like me, just use the Steam workshop downloader http://steamworkshopdownloade... />Special thanks to Triumph's team member Eric who solved the issue.

Tournament roster will be released as planned on 15 July. However, there are technical issues, seemingly due to Steam, which prevent a release of v1.15 as we expected (+ delay in the release of the mod on the coding side too).

Could as many people as possible test the mod here: http://steamcommunity.com/sha... It's v1.15. It's a different mod from the main one because of the Steam issue I just mentioned. If people test it, it will speed up the start of the tournament.
For now, I expect at least 5 days of delay to try to figure out how to deal with the Steam issue + test the mod. So roster will be released but people will be forbidden from starting matches.

Reminder: the 2vs2 team tournament starts on 15 July! Keep a slot open for it!
We'll play with v1.15 or v1.16 (slightly modified from v1.15, including bug corrections) of the balance mod.


After round 1, which should last 3 months because it will be played during the Summer holidays (following rounds will be 2 months long), we will play with v1.17 of the balance mod which will further fix issues with AD.

In order to finalize these changes and be able to test them as much as possible, we still need more feedback on the proposed changes to have a consensus on them. I summed up the discussions here: http://aow.triumph.net/forums... You can provide feedback here, on the forum, on the chat or by PM and I'll summarize it.
Also, please have a look at the discussion about Arcane Item Forge here: http://aow.triumph.net/forums... We need to remove the items giving mind control abilities, otherwise our efforts to limit mind control will be very flawed and some lucky players will be able to convert as before through items. The idea is to get changes related to Item Forge for v1.17 (round 2 of the tournament).

jabst, thanks for the advice but believe me, I've been doing that for months and it's not possible to have one place.
The privileged place is the forum but some players do not want to go there, so it's ok for them to discuss here. My job is to do the synthesis of everyone's discussions.

@all: it has been a month without anyone but Gilafron providing feedback on the forum. There are important topics to be discussed regarding Necro with immediate consequences for the tournament (hopefully we can get the changes implemented before the beginning of the tournament) and for AD, for which changes would be implemented at the end of round 1.

Secret Spells
Secret spells are very random, so maybe it is ok to leave for the tournament. Still I wanted to put out there that we should remove the useless and over-powered secret spells from rewards. I have won different games by the luck of the draw on different rewards.

Rogue heroes and leaders can choose Antiserum for 4 points at level 5. Antiserum can be used once per battle on a Poisonned unit (touch ability): it heals 10 HP and gets 100% Blight Protection for one round.

ANNOUNCEMENT for the tournament:
It is forbidden to exchange back and forth cities between allies to achieve Empire Quests. One player can give cities to his allies but then his ally cannot give them back until the end of the game. The only exception is if the initial giver has lost all his cities, in which case his ally can give him one city back.
Similar exploits are banned.

Judges (Markymark, Fistandantilus and me) went against reroll on turn 1. As DreadReapr pointed out, with weak starting army, everyone has the same units. I've never heard of hated or disliked starting terrain. If that happens, the best is that the host sends a screenshot to judges and we'll see on a case by case basis.
A good reason for reload would be if tournament settings had not been respected, but then you would need judges' approval.

The start date is still 15 July because we need time to get v1.15 and then test it a few days to make sure it works properly.

By the way, the suggestions made will be taken into account for next tournament (probably 1vs1 PBEM) and for instance, we could have a "never the same class nor the same race" tournament next time.
