Posts to the game:

This game ended abruptly since cbower has had to leave the community to spend more time with family, so the rankings are based on relative army strengths at the end of the game. Cbower and I (mauvebutterfly) were significantly ahead of the other players at this time, and it was really just a battle between the two of us at the end. This game was organised by Kwibus using a special "no mind control" rule set. We could only choose to play as warlords, dreadnoughts, and sorcerers, and there were no heroes aside from the leaders. This made the game a lot more production-focused, since you had to produce or summon your army instead of converting or raising the neutral stacks to join your forces. I would have liked to see how a sorcerer would have done in this rule set, but it was still an interesting game mode, and I'd highly recommend doing it again.

Kwibus, thanks for organizing this game. I really enjoyed playing with the "no mind control" settings and would definitely do this again. I noticed we all went production classes (warlord and dreadnought) and wonder how a sorcerer would have done with this rule-set. Back in AoW1 I liked playing on large maps while disabling having the leader on the map at all, since heroes were overpowered in that game too and I liked the army development and management side of the game a lot more than the hero side of it. This seemed like a reasonable compromise to the overpowered hero problem.

I think that my victory was largely due to cbower spawning on the opposite side of the map, and my two immediate neighbours agreeing to my peace offer, giving me 60 turns of uninterrupted development.

I'll probably be starting another "No Mind Control" game in a couple of days with the same rules (+allowing a unity victory, maybe?)

I'm sure that it's something that must be done so no hard feelings at all. You will be missed andI wish you all the best.

I was hoping to play this one out, but obviously family comes first. I guess that pretty much decides this game then.

I particularly enjoyed playing that 3v3 with you a while back. I learned a lot from watching your battles. Thanks for the games, and hope to see you back here again someday in the future.

I am sorry to say I must leave AOW3 immediately. I have really enjoyed this game, and battlefield in particular a great deal. However at this point I need focus on my family. I am in good health, my family is in good health, but for me right now this is the right decision. Again, I am sorry for everyone that I have a game with me,  that I have left, I am particularly sorry to those in the academy games. I did not make this decision lightly, but it needs to be done.

I got my nymph from the Pure Good quest. As far as I know the mod is working fine.

Also, glad to see that Triumph fixed the issue with the mod updating. I played my turn without having to mess around with my subscriptions. It updated fine.

Everyone should hit the "update" button on selected mods tab when loading the game if you have a mod version incompatibility.

Nymph can be obtained as a tribute from fairy dwelling, not only as a reward.

You play with the mod right? And you got a Nymph at a Farm? That's a bug because it's supposed to be impossible. Could you please confirm so that Zaskow investigates?

Had a hiccup today. The upload froze part way through.

It saves the game before trying to upload, so I just loaded up my finished turn and sent it again. Just thought I'd mention it anyway, even though there was no option to replay or change anything.

I just got a nymph unit. In keeping with the theme of this game, I'm not using her to clear neutral stacks. She gets guard duty.

Entemgummitiger can you give us an update on your status?

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

I enjoy playing the game, but I would much rather have a good game take a long time to complete than to have a game end quickly by walking over an absent player. I got enough of that in another AoW group.

I also personally am nowhere close to running out of game slots, so there is no rush. Take as long as you need.

Unless everyone disagrees we will wait for your return.

Hey guys,
My PC is broken. I can't play until new parts arrive, which will hopefully be by the end of the week.
Feel free to skip my turns until then.
I'm sorry that I didn't come here earlier, but I had other things on my mind as this PC breakdown is causing all sorts of trouble for me.
Cheers

You also reduce the happiness bonus of enemy troops and cities and you increase your speed on the deforested terrains. 4 points might still be too much, maybe 3 would be better. But it has its uses.

The mod automatically updates for Steam users. GoG users (like me) need to redownload it and replace the previous version of it with the newer.

Well you remove terrain that a lot of classes can use to be invisible, but removing it takes heaps of time and your dreadnought that actually managed to reach that skill probably has better stuff to do then mowing the lawn...I mean mowing the forest.

Looks good. Just a couple of questions:

Will the mod update automatically affect any games in progress? It isn't a problem, but it is good to confirm that this will work the way I think it will.

Second, what is the point of the dreadnought's tree crusher skill? Seriously. Does this skill add any value whatsoever? I know that you get gold from it, but at 10 skill points this feels pointless. Even at 4 it still seems pointless. I'm just wondering if I'm missing something here.

Hi there! Do you have any feedback on the changes introduced by the balance mod?
Also, please note the mod will probably be updated next week to include additional balance changes. You can check the changelog of v1.1 here: https://docs.google.com/docum... New changes introduced in v1.1 are in dark green (some are not yet chosen).

Just to let you guys know I will be on vacation from may 10th to may 17th. I will be taking the family to Disney. I should be able to take my laptop, so I should be able to play a few turns at night if I am not too tired. Though I may not be able to keep a good pace during that time.

Kwibus, you can click on " Refresh the turn order based on everyone's latest playtime" at the top, to have the best turn order computed by the site (previously, the function was bugged but now it should work).

Given our playtimes, I think it's a good idea to move myself to the 5th position in-game. Kwibus, can the host move people? I moved myself, but putting cbower into my now vacant 2nd slot might be a good idea. Actually, I should be in 4th and Entengummitier in 5th. Obviously if we end up with someone else then I have no idea where they would fit in.

Of course this assumes that we are going to manage 1 turn a day, which in a 5 player game is a bit optimistic. Doesn't hurt to try though.

I've send a message to botn cbower and entengummitiger yesterday as a reminder. Cbower joined directly, but Enten is still quiet.

I'll give him another day and then I'll replace him by anyone else that is interested.

This where you can get the mod. Latest update has been released fridayevening.

I've set the game up again so all can join.

I'll be honest that using mods is new to me and I have no idea if I actually activated it or not. It's in my user content and I marked it before loading AoW3, but I have no idea it actually works when I'm in AoW3.

This is going to be ffa.
Are you also aware we are going to test a balance mod? It's probably about to be released on friday.

Is this teams or ffa?

Thanks for all your work Hiliadan, both with regards to the balance mod, and generally here on the Battlefield site.

Those changes look interesting, and I look forward to trying them.

Of course, since we are limited to warlord, sorcerer, and dreadnought for this game, many of the changes won't come up, but I'm still quite interested to see how the hero XP progression plays out.
