Very good game. I posted on the active game page but will post here as well. You outplayed me and probably deserved to win, but the greater reanimate undead spell bailed me out. I wish you the best of luck and hope we meet again later in the tournament.

Another difference was the fact that I was able to raze most of the cities on the map and was able to get the pure evil empire quest units. When Mauve and I met for our final battle, neither of us had a capitol. I sacrificed my only vassel for a tribute of units to help me in that final battle.

Thanks for telling me about the hero spawning at my capital rrrrookie. My scouting wasn't the best, but I had no idea how you managed to get that hero through at that time. It makes sense now.

Game flow:
I lost all my cities early on but was able to defeat rrrrookie's leader stack without any significant casualties. I then went and burned his starting cities while he burned a neutral town I had captured. In the end, there were no cities and only a single fey dwelling left on the map. rrrrookie defeated me in the final battle near the dwelling, having recruited several powerful units with his necromancer leader.

rrrrookie (Frostling Necromancer) won against mauvebutterfly (Draconian Archdruid)

Note: I (mauvebutterfly) didn't think to take a screenshot before leaving the match. I'm new to battlefield, and will try to remember next time. Since I lost and am not disputing the result, there shouldn't be any problem with accepting my word as sufficient evidence.

Good game mauve. I apologize for the ironman violations and I can assure you there was no foul play. This game was downright bizarre with mauve destroying my entire army but I was able to raze all his cities by around turn 13. I was able to rebuild somewhat and kite mauve around the map while I used greater reanimate dead to get a new army together. I feel like you should know that I had a sorcerer hero offered at your capitol the turn before it was razed and that is why I had a random hero free to capture your draconian town in the bottom right corner.

Edit: For what it is worth, I can say with full confidence that with any kind of nerf to greater reanimate undead included in any of the mods out there, I would have lost this game.

Thank you for understanding guys.

Ok, so all 3 judges agreed: rrrrookie, you already had an unjustified reload (upload failed + notification, no screenshot). It is the second time you have a very rare case of Ironman notification and you don't have a screenshot. So we give you a final warning. Let's hope you don't have any other Ironman notification without screenshot (or actually let's hope you don't have any other notification at all).
You may be of good faith but we have no way to know it so it's the final warning.

Good luck for the rest of the game!

As said, please remove turn timer. Sorry, I am on business trip and yesterday was pretty busy so was not able to sum up the judges' opinion. I'm going to do that in a few minutes...

user

I will wait to do my turn? I am going out of town this weekend and will be unable to process my turn. Can we lift the turn timer? We have proven we can do turns quickly when things are going smoothly so we may not need it any more.

I saw that the turn had been restarted, but everything seemed fine. There were no engagements between us on the past turn.

I played my turn before checking here, unfortunately.

Alright. I will do my turn.

user

Are you sure? Surely I can't get an ironman violation if I never opened my turn?

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

Just play your turn because anyway you will still keep the ironman notification.
Then please remove the turn timer, we need to discuss between the judges....

user

I got another 'ironman violation' without even beginning my turn. I am in the process letting the turn timer run out because obviously I do not have a screenshot because I never started my turn to begin with. I have never had this happen except in this game.

We are on turn 28 or 29. The game itself has been pretty bizarre.

Round 1 : Tourneygame #2
Read here the rules

In order to avoid advantaging one player or the other, for each match, the player who will host the match has been randomly selected. The first player in the "turn order" above (who is also the player at the top in the tree here: index.php?page=tourneyroster&tourneyid=4 must host the game.

Please update the status of the game to "Running".

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

That's not normal, you should report it for the developers I think. I only had issues with the turn timer once or twice and it was always only for the 1st turn and the 1st player.

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

In my opinion we are playing at a good pace and do not need a turn timer.

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

When it was my second turn I tried to enable a turn timer (we didn't have one,) and it immediately skipped my turn. That's what I meant.

I just enabled the turn timer and it was fine.

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

I don't understand what you mean by "If I add a limit when it isn't my turn, will that stop it from skipping? "?
The only bug I know of is that turns can be skipped AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME, only for the 1st player. So it's better not to set the turn timer before the 1st player has played.

If you change from 3 days to 1 day during the course of a game, the 1 day limit will apply only when the turn of the active player is finished.

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

Since we haven't had any problems with playing the turn every day, I would prefer not to turn on the turn timer again, since skipping another turn at this point could have a significant impact on the game.

For anyone who is more experienced with PBEM, is skipping a turn common when changing the time limit? If I add a limit when it isn't my turn, will that stop it from skipping?

Thank you. I appreciate your understanding.

Hi So we all agreed to give rrrrookie a warning. Reload notifications after failed uploads happen but are rare. No screenshot was provided and the two players had already had battles, etc. so the reload may be considered suspicious (even if it can also clearly be genuine).

So warning and you can continue! Good luck for the rest of the game!

user

Ok don't freak out.
I sent my opinion to Markymark and Fistandantilus, they should answer soon.

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

I realize I should have taken a screenshot. I should have known better. I understand why we have these rules and that is why we use ironman mode. Whatever the judges decide is fine with me.

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

I did not take a screenshot but I should have thought to take one. It did not give me a choice but to do my turn again so when I tried to do my turn again it had left off as it was when I ended my turn.

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

Yes, please remove turn timer and wait. I need to confirm what we do with other judges.

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

We have met and engaged in several battles already.

Should I wait on playing my next turn?

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

Do you have a screenshot of the failed upload? Did both of you met already?
The rules require a screenshot for each reload

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

My game failed to upload after I did my turn. When I entered again it said I would be restarting but it turns out everything was as it was when I ended my turn. So even though it say I restarted my turn I really didn't.

user

I am cool with that.

Ok...

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

I'm not sure how much of a rookie you are, but since we're being so reasonable about this, I'm just going to point out that we are effectively 2 turns behind on production from a regular custom game (1 for skipped turn, 1 for settler needing to build the city) so it might feel like monster spawners are activating a bit earlier than you are used to.

But, you probably already knew that. Thanks, and good luck.

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

Yeah I skipped my turn. Lets proceed! Good luck.

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

It's showing as my turn now, so I assume that rrrrookie means that he loaded up the game and then ended his turn without doing anything.

The messages about being in the wrong version (or being in a beta version) seems to be a persistent bug. Regardless of whether I have the beta active or not, I and several other players keep getting that message in my other games.

rrrrookie, can I assume that you want to continue with this game then with both of us having skipped a turn? From now on I will just play normally unless we have further issues, but I don't know what else could happen at this point. I'll still restart if you request it in the next couple of turns in case you are playing before reading these forums or we are having some sort of miscommunication, but after this weekend, I will consider everything locked in.
