From the start of this session I've tried to clear sites as fast as I can.   I started at UG in the upper left square of the map. My second hero was AD. <smiletext23>
I found another human city (village) at the lower left square but I didn't become to capture it (to increase evil) and was waiting while it join me as a vassal. Also I tried to evolve my human cavalry to T3 unit

I thought that I will meet with Fist very early (at 5-7 turns by his scouts). But I was growing, managed to build another city, discovered one more human city slightly east from my capitol. I decided to capture it later (it was without walls unlike the first city ). I went to south. And there I've started convert some units. I had to capture south city (with walls) to gain more XP for heroes/units.

At that moment I finally met Fist at UG. I must admit that he was quite mobile and used all the benefits of the map at this location  He used at least 3 times Haste Berries and clear/visit one tavern during 5 turns.   He had only one full stack with no T3, one T2 cavalry with gold medal and his hero leader was 4-5 lvl (with 20 spell points close almost to the end of the session ). At the same time I have 2 full stacks with 2 T3 cavalry, other were T2/T1 units. Because of shooters, I was too slow. <smiletext6> But nearly I had the advantage - Shrine to the Guardian Angel  I had visited it and tried to catch up main Fist stack while he didn't bring another stack

Yeah, I can imagine that such kind of isolation has two sides: positive (for defense) and negative (for growth). I sympathize with you in this   But also it's strange that you didn't discover my second capitol  and didn't try to capture it <smiletext24>

It's funny because I thought it was an absolutly horrible starting position

Maybe good for defense but having a single bottleneck to try and expand is a nightmare, not to mention I was surrounded by undead spawning camps across the lava which were a constant threat throughout the early game.

In fact on turn 7 or 8 I lost my capitol to a coordinated 2 stack independents attack (it's the first time I see one) which killed a 4 units garrison a settler and halted my current producion. I had to come back with my leader to recapture it and then it was a 5 turn trip to the spawinng site (2 turns distance across the lava for those stupid flying undead)
So many turns wasted (and unit loss) really slowed me down a lot in the early game, prrof is that when we met your leader was 3 or 4 leves higher than mine...

1) Yeah I could have but since I was absorbing them in 2 turns I thought it was better to keep them in the long run if I could defend them, which I was able to do till the very end actually, I don't think it mattered much , gold gain was probably even.
2) I was running a gold deficit, at that point you can just stay put and wait for my troops to disband due to an empty treasure, I rolled my luck in a decisive battle rather than die of starvation <smiletext0>

Anyway well played, good luck against gab!

44 turns and seemed pretty balanced for most of the game. Congratz Skuns, you were too modest in your interview. <smiletext0>

Fistandantilus, you'll still have at least 1 match after gab and Skuns finish theirs. Please remember to send me your interview filled. <smiletext0>

If one of you could post more details about the game with screenshots, etc. I'm sure there will be people interested (me at least)!

Congratz Skuns! I updated the roster for the final phase. Please check here: https://docs.google.com/drawi... />I created the game for match #2: https://www.the-battlefield.c... />
I'm going to randomly select one of you and gab to host the game and post in game #2's blog.

It was a very learning game, thanks Fist a lot
There are some screenshots of my victory: Score, Military Score.

P.S. At one of the report screen there is the black block with the text - I couldn't read anything in it. And where/when I have to download the screenshot of victory while the reporting process is go on?!  (as at previous games on this site)

Thanks for good, interesting and somewhat hard game
During the entire second half of the game, I was afraid to lose.
I think, you are very lucky by two reasons, at least. For the first, your starting position is nice. <smiletext23> <3  The river of lava and the undiggable walls with one free hex between its - such defensive position is a dream of every AoW3-gamer. <smiletext1>  For the second, to get so many T3 dwarfs and tons of fey (with 2 or 3xT3) from the vassal dwelling  :'( - I think it is a great luck <smiletext23> <smiletext24>
But I don't understand something.
1. Why you didn't destroy my cities? Then you would get many gold and mana
2. Why you did your last suicide attack? You could run away and maybe had a chance to win. Or, at least, you could stay at your capital and try to protect it.
Your stack with 3xT3 dwarfs and 2xT3 fey was so powerful and almost unkillable  :'( I couldn't imagine it to the full

Ok, decision of the judges (Markymark and me): you have 1 warning for reload with adequate proof. You can continue. Fistandantilus told me yesterday he was away "for the next 3 days" so probably keep the turn timer off anyway.

Hi.
Sorry, but your link doesn't working properly. So I made the screenshot by guess: Event Viewer. What else you need as a proof?

P.S. It is in Russian, but I hope it will be useful for you

Please try to find Event Viewer in Windows (see for instance that: https://www.digitalmastersmag... then look for the events at the date of your crash, then take a screenshot and post it here. Thanks!

Some period of time (3-4 seconds) the game really was at the background. And then it was closed, there left only the report on the screenshot

Discussing with Markymark... I'm not sure how you can have this screenshot without AoW3 in background?

Hi.
Today, when I've played my current turn I saw the crash report and the game was closed automatically. I've tried to make the screenshot "in-game" while it was not closed. But this screenshot was not saved at the Win7 buffer. Here is the screenshot after that: (AoW3 crash screen).
Following with the rules, I turned off the turn timer until the judges will not take any decision.

I think the host should have started in the second slot but I really don't mind, just joined it.

P.s. I'll be away this week-end from friday to sunday night, If you can set the timer to three days on fridey I'd appreciate it, tx.

Hi.
Sorry again for this weekend, I couldn't host the game.
Now I re-host this session. It's name is left "Duel Tourney Final match #1". Password is 911.
Here are new screenshots of the settings: Screen_fin_1, Screen_fin_2, Screen_fin_3, Screen_fin_4.
I've set 1-day turn timer as the judges asked. If you are uncomfortable with it just let me know <smiletext1>

Hi. Sorry, I have no time to re-host this session again for now. I'll try do it very soon. I'm glad that we can start this session finally  <smiletext24>

I'm not sure if the patch Hiliadan talked about is released or what but my pc is ok and ready to go :p

To Fist
Hi. No worries, I can wait till your PC will be fixed. Even if it will happen later 15-th. <smiletext1>   When both of us will be ready to play I will re-host the session at AoW3 with the main branch of balance mod as Hiliadan asked.

P.S. Anyway I have to note you that I will be on vacation from 17-th till 20-th of November. I'll try to play my turns on time but maybe I will have no internet connection. So I will turn off the turn timer till I will return.

Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

Hi sorry for the late reply, I didn't notice it at first (my fault) and now my pc is broken... Hiliadan suggested we start on the 15th when a new patch will be available. If it's ok for you I'd wait till then so my pc will be (hopefully) fixed and I won't have to rely on an unstable laptop.

Let me know what you think and sorry again

To Hiliadan&Fist
Hi again.
I figured out today that the 2-nd tryout of hosting was wrong again.   Sorry for this. The session had the wrong mod - regular v.1.16, not beta v.1.18. I've rehosted this session with the beta version of the game and with the beta version of the mod. I hope I didn't miss any other possible betas  <smiletext1> in this session. <smiletext18>

To Hiliadan
I've researched the v.1.705 theme. As proof of it, here is the screenshot of beta main menu: Main menu v.1.705. I've already recreate this session  under the beta version. I've changed also all uploads screenshots, as you can see that at my post below with the session's settings.

P.S. @Fist  All settings of this session are the same as previous. We can start to play finally <smiletext1>

I will try to figure out about v.1.705 beta as soon as possible

user
Published on Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 +0100

That is incorrect, you can opt in and out of the beta (so you can play this game with it and other games without, it's easy to do, just like the mod).
v1.705 fixes cheating so it is very important to use in the final phase. Please ask to Jean or any other player how to opt in or out of the beta.

To Hiliadan
No, it's not. I haven't idea what ussues try to fix v.1.705 beta. But I play at stable version 1.704 (Main menu of AoW3).
And for now I don't want change it. Is it a problem? Because I play at other sessions with the players who have the same version as mine. And if I will upgrade my version of AoW3 to v.1.705 beta, then other participants will have to upgrade it too or kick me out of the sessions.

Do you confirm you also used 1.705 beta branch from Triumph? I think as you're both on Steam, that would be great that all the matches from the final phase are played on 1.705 since it fixes several PBEM exploit.
Settings seem good to me.

The rules and settings of the 1v1 apply but you use v1.18 of the balance mod, through the beta branch: http://steamcommunity.com/sha... />That's what was announced a while ago for the final phase: they will use v1.18.

Regarding recording, then maybe you don't need to comment but you can record your full turn. Or record 2min at the end of each turn without commenting but showing what you did during the turn and a replay of some of the most interesting battle.
But yeah, I understand you don't do it if it's difficult to comment in English. Otherwise maybe you can comment in Russian, that's still interesting for the Russian community.

Hi.
I could miss something, so as I'm the host then what rules I have to use for it?  Rules for previous 1vs1 tornaments or rules for current 2vs2 tourney (when we use the mod v.1.16)?

P.S. It is interesting idea to record my turns, but I have no enough time for it. :'( Especially for commenting my thoughts and moves in English. It is difficult for me now  May be I can adapt to it at near future, but not now, sorry <smiletext1>

Ok! I have both your class/race, and v1.18 has been stabilized on the beta branch. So you can start your match by using the beta branch: http://steamcommunity.com/sha... />We will delay any update to v1.2 on the beta branch until your match is finished.

Skuns, please host and post the settings as usual.

Ah yeah, I also suggest you use 1.705 beta from Triumph as I think you're both Steam users. It should be compatible with the beta branch, if it's not, please let me know (but I heard of several games working fine with both).

And one last thing: if you can, it would be great if you could record (and comment) your turns, for other players to watch when your game is finished! <smiletext0> (I recommend a debrief at the end of each turn, instead of a full recording, because the latter is a bit boring to watch )

Good luck and have fun!

Class and race for previous match cannot be played in this match.
Class and race for this match cannot be played in next match.

So you can do A / B / A if you want. But not A / A / B or A / B / B.

Hi.
I will send my class/race soon. But before it I want understand something about choosing class/race at this Final phase.
You've writen: It must not be a class/race played in your previous match (and you will not be able to play it in your next match, as before).
As I can understand, at the current match I can't use a class/race which I've played against Sjow. But I don't understand how I can choose a class/race for the next match. <smiletext6>  What did you mean when you've written "to play it"? What is it? It means that I can't choose a class/race for the current match at the next match or something another?
