Bookmark this page on vision range (or just type "Vision_Range" at the end of a Wiki URL to reach it): http://age-of-wonders-3.wikia... />True Sight does not affect vision range. Night Vision gives +2.

You've got 2 items giving +2 Vision Range: the Head of the Dullahan (I like that item a lot!) and the Wizard Hat. The Crystal Crown even gives +3!! http://age-of-wonders-3.wikia... />If you Fly, you're really a f*cking walking Watch Tower!

Well that is a crazy vision range. Which item grants +2 vision range, is he flying/floating?
Anyway, surely underestimated that one. Ouch.
I'm  someone who is checking abilities and resistances of enemy heroes but not going into calculations and precise analysis of the enemy heroes, sounds too exhausting
But here I see what it brought me, maybe I should pay more attention. Another question: If you hero also got true sight, would that decrease your vision range? What's the vision range of true sight? Does it work with night vision?

I'm a Warlord. It's Imperium who is Theo.

My AD has something like 8 hexes Vision Range, so not much is out of his Vision Range. Night Vision = 4; AD = +1; Vision Range Upgrade = +1; item = +2. You need to take that into account when considering Vision Range vs heroes.

Hi Hiliadan,

yes, I probably should have fought back. I concentrated on defendign, my thinking was: Let's try to make this defeat as expensive as possible" not "let's go out and turn the game" You are right about the stacks and I'm aware of that. I thought my hero stack was out of visio nrange and thus safe...but it seems I was wrong :'D

I also didn't think of deathmarch, never used it on my own. And I thought you could not cast deathmarch as you are a theocrat, isn't it a warlord spell? Was it casted on your units by someone else yand you simply gained more movement points at the beginning of your round than you normally would have got?

I didn't really shine in this game and I more and more feel that I lack the ambition to become a veteran in this game as I play rather for fun than competitively. Still I like to improve, of course. Anyway: Thanks for this academy game everyone. I hope I will be able to prove a harder opponent next time! (:

@Zytozid: for my Sorc build you can check the (text) log of my turns vs Mr. Hawk on the associated report https://www.the-battlefield.c... and also watch the associated videos. <smiletext0> Basically I go only for Phantasm Warriors and then stop researching class units and move to spec skills, but that's because it's a duel. You should definitely first research Phantasm before going to other skills, because it will change a lot of things for clearing and attacking.

There are a few golden rules that you broke I'm afraid :
1/ never put your Leader near your Throne when you have enemies nearby, as losing both means end of the game. I know this game ended some time ago but still, you should fight back. If you don't, you could have surrendered.
2/ if you do put your Leader near your Throne, do not keep more than 3 stacks there (or maybe 4 if they are of equal strength), otherwise you can be split and you'll lose very badly. Here you put your Leader stack alone near your Throne, that was clearly an invitation to kill it. Remember Warlords have Death March (I could reach you without it anyway, just needed it to move back).

Being careful not to be split on the strategic also applies to when you're near Watch Towers or Fortresses too. Are you aware of the potential risks of Watch Towers? <smiletext18>

Woah this library is a treasure!
I'll have a look into it...if I can motivate myself to do so
But obviously clearing are one of my bigger weaknesses, I'm not really good at it. And you're probably right. What is your usual Build Order when yo ustart off as Sorc, Hil?

Ok I see but even in a 4v4, your strategy seems too long-term and passive to me. Researching Phantasm Warrior after the Empire Upgrade for Apprentice means you do not build on one of the main strength of Sorcerer: being able to reinforce as you move (and in a more reliable way than Convert). I would never do that myself. There is no need to for Node Serpent, but at least go for the Warriors. Similarly, it means you waste half (or more) of your potential: Sorcerer is not about building units, you had few units to clear the Mines because you were not summoning real units. You need to think about your strategy/playstyle again because it's not normal to have a Gold Mine uncleared 1 turn away from your Throne at turn 40+. Even with team mates leaving, etc. Getting multiple cities should be a strength for you, not a drag (defending vs roamers and us), because it means more production, more mana, more gold, more research and thus more CP.

I think you underestimate your skills too. Maybe you should check some of the videos in the library: http://age-of-wonders-3.wikia... and then try to replicate some site clearing with units you feel are not entirely strong enough for YOU to clear the sites.

And besides that... you seem to highly overestimate my skill

I started off very slowly in this game, my starting position didn't really allow me to research fast. I rallied my units because I simply waited for you guys, I tried to gain some time by sending wisps but I never made it to an undefended city, but burned down some towers and one or two fortresses I think. There just was not more in it for me, my wisps didn't came far enough to take your cities.

Also, I sent  a unit underground to steal your cities and it went along all the map, just to end up in a place on the other side with no cities of you near it and surrounded by lava/water and undiggable walls which needed me to return. If the path would have been free it would have ended up perfectly in teh back of you. It took a time to get this unit  morei nto the center and then to where your cities must be but got catched by one of your patrols. As I took over the cities of some of our players who left the game I needed to secure them against independents and your scouts etc, as well, stretching my lines thin and I couldn't really form a fast moving unit that would have been capable of taking a city even if only lightly defended.
My plan in the game was to stay behind our lines build up and support with summons until I woudl be ablt to form stacks of apprentices and summons that could reallydo harm. Due to our allies leaving us, this left me quite unprepared for the new situation. Until I had enough troops to clear the mine etc. the game was already clearly lost so I secured my capital as good as possible for the final attack and waited for an honorable death.

resreach wise I only got the phanto mwarriors very late, after researching teleport and stn for apprentices, which took me very long due to my slow start andt he lack of buildings/sites that could boost my research under my control.
