No Necromancers.
Please no necro - they remain OP with ghoul curse too strong despite mod efforts. Their ability to ghoul curse tier IV units is causing game-breaking balance issues.

Large surface map with no underground.
Default map settings.
Village start.
Average armies/defenders.
Cosmic Happenings set to difficult.

"cbower charmed 2 Giants in an early game we had. Jean charmed 1 Chtonic Guardian"

More good reasons to make T4 immune from all convert/charm/curse. This cannot be fair for warlord/sorcerer/dread etc.
All classes should be able to access T4 at about the same time; that would be good balance.

Yeah, AI can too but it depends of course of your units.

I agree that Necro is still too fast now, that's why we plan several nerf to slow it down. Check your PM.
But keep in mind that it's not Necro specific. cbower charmed 2 Giants in an early game we had. Jean charmed 1 Chtonic Guardian in a recent game: http://www.the-battlefield.co...

@Hiliadan on tier IV ghoul curse
"After turn 20, you should be able to deal with 1 T4."
I can deal with 1 T4 after turn 20 sure. But can ai in PBEM autocombat?
It's important to note in Diggers Bane that the player had two T4 before turn 20, so even on this metric ghoul curse remains broken.

Chtonic Guardian and Stone Giant do not have Mind Control Immunity and can be mind-controlled by Rogue and Theocrat.

I'm not sure what is my opinion on this. I think it's ok to be able to mind control them as long as risks are high and you cannot do it before turn 20. After turn 20, you should be able to deal with 1 T4.
Also, v1.2 will increase the upkeep of converted units.

So, you should not want to ban Necro but rather ban Necro, Theo and Rogue.

@Hiliadan on tier IV ghoul curse
The Tier IV issue was encountered in Diggers Bane 2v2, where a very well-played Frostling Necromancer had a Cthonic Guard and elite Stone Giant before turn 20. Precisely when the units were acquired I don't know, though from the scores stats at the end I'm going to guess turn 15 for the first of the two.
The advantage of getting a tier IV so early breaks the game imho as it allows necro to clear harder sites sooner with no risk, creating a snowball. There are also considerations of cost in said snowball (more on this below).
I also question why necro should have the ability to ghoul curse a tier IV unit that has mind control immunity. If the unit was deemed too strong to be charmed/converted, then surely it should not be allowed to be cursed and therefore obtained by necro (eg manticore)?
If all tier IV units were immune from charm/convert/ghoulcurse etc that would remove the opportunity for this game-breaking piece of luck (no matter how small the % chance).
Necro, like other classes have the opportunity to create their own natural tier IV, so how come they ALSO get the chance to steal any on the map? At first glance that already seems like a game-breaker.
It's also important to note that for classes to produce their natural tier IVs they must invest in infrastructure to obtain and support these top units. This creates an important balancing resource cost and time delay to a tier IV strategy. However, of course, the necromancer bypasses all of this natural balance with ghoul curse, just grabbing units with combat luck.
I support necromancers having the ghoul curse ability, but it should not extend to tier IV, where obtaining one early in a game kills the match. A necro can take as many tier III as he wants np; at least I'll still have a chance with a tier II-III army of my own.
It seems such an elegant, easy solution to me to just make all tier IV immune from charm/curse abilities.
At the end of the day, it sucks to have played for a month in PBEM, discover on turn 15-20 your opponent has tier IV, and be left with no option than to just say gg. Not even a battle, or strategic map tactical dance to enjoy <smiletext6>

You may want to invite DreadReapr, he was interested by a 2vs2 and had one other player with him I think.

Regarding Necro, which ghouled T4 are problematic here?
