Hiho,

thanks for the insight in the enemy "head" Fluks <smiletext0>
yes, I did have a good start - up until turn 20 (or so) managed to clear very efficiently and managed to acquire enough resources to get the settlers (and build cities) nearly non-stop. Once the encounters started - I was thrown a bit back by the need to move clearing stacks to defend/engage, so at some point Marcus overtook me in the clearing/resource acquisition, but as a solid economy was already built, I've had ability to produce armies en-mass.
To be honest, it felt a bit dull dancing around your domain with the theo and frostling snapchance stack, trying to do some good dmg, but at the same time avoiding the heavy ambushes - so nicely defended there <smiletext0> Either way, this helped to alleviate pressure for Marcus while advancing south (we also had one great battle between Dr.Light's, Seer's, Marcus's and my forces near the giant's dwelling at the beginning of it).
The central map fights near fey dwelling was a bit of a fkc-up from my side as I thought I can quickly take the dwelling and retreat to the gathered forces in the snow. $eer managed a nice ambush for that little theo hero, but I caught him afterwards, while he tried to counter-attack.
Also, this was my first time playing Dreadnought frostling with master wind affinity, which played out nicely in form of elementals and rendering enemy flying units useless (not that our opponents had many of those).

Thanks for the game, guys, I'm looking forward to the 3-layered game <smiletext0> Though i'd propose draconic (e.g very slow paced, very heavily defended sites) difficulty <smiletext0>

Thanks for the game

This was a great game! Thanks to all involved and especially $eer who hosted it. it was my first game with loads of mods I hadn't played before and it was a blast. Also as others have noted everyone usually played their turns really quick which helped. Only "annoyance" was that this chivalrous intentions mod kept getting updated and I have the game on gog - I just checked on the mods steam page - since we started there have been more than 60 updates for this mod and it sure feels like I manually downloaded and unpacked every single one of them :astonished:

Regarding the game I think the teams were rather well balanced with Alx, Marccus and $eer clearly being top tier but i think I was not trailing too far behind. My game plan was to boom like a madmen and try to wrench every bonus happiness event I could from those extra happiness halflings get and to buy time I wanted to send crows and the cheap invisible halfling rogue units form the chivalrous intentions mod over just to make our opponents run extra ways to take back their cities and maybe even steal a settler or builder to slow them down until I'd have my "too big to fail" halfling empire and then I'd see what nice units I could build. But unfortunately there were two big problems that hindered my plans:

  1. We played with strong defenders and they are no joke to a little squishy halfling rogue (that also sinks resources into little one man raiding parties) I severly underestimated that in the beginning and clearing structures was abysmally slow. At one point I had a Dreadnought 6er stack in the UG but found maybe 3 doable sites within 10 turns before I could reinforce it properly in the midgame (and then it ran into marcus invis sorc stack....)
  2. The map: Below me were $eer and DrLight so I really only could go up and then a bit east if I didn't want to steal the only camps $eer could easily reach. But up was a big lake and a big blighted swamp, then some volcanic terrain and a big snow field to the west and at the end of this snowfield was my closest opponent - the Frostling Dreadnought Alx...

So my clearing was slow, I had little room to boom and my brave little invisible rogues had to march through the blighted wetlands and across rivers to be finally laughed at by snow concealed, frost witches with true sight :sob: (upper part of the map is below: red is volcanic, black is blighted, blue is snow and green is temperate/tropic)

Of course I didn't know that from the beginning, once the situation became properly clear to me I just beelined stalkers and tried to mix in some leprechauns for good measure. But of course at that point I had already spent a lot of research into the explorer tree to make my T1 rogues quicker and see further and together with my overall slow start it took forever to finally get stalkers. At that point Alx was already pressuring hard with a lvl 13 theocrat and three stacks from the north razed my two dwarven towns and continuously threatened to take the Naga dwelling (Serrakis). I managed to defend (also thanks to my allies, for about 3 turns I just received spare resources to bring me above 1000 gold for the happiness boost) but thats about it, in the meantime $eer and DrLight lost ground in the south and we never really managed to put pressure on them.

So in the end for that map layout i was just too late with stalkers. I think with early stalkers I might have had a chance against Alx powerplay (because he boomed like crazy) and pressuring Alx in the north would also have been a relief for my allies in the south because Alx also had an army meddling around there. Instead I was somewhat trying to anticipate and match Alx fast watermovement while getting stalkers and runnign around a blighted swamp without getting anything done.

It was really well played by our opponents that never really gave us room to breathe.

Again thanks for the game, this was really fun!

This was a very bad game for me, the thing is, it started back in March so there were a lot the game mechanics I didn't know when it started, as time passed, it was very hard to turn around and "fix it"...

From the start I lost one of my tier III units that I started with, that was unfortunate, I also lost my leader several times. Another issue is that I tried to expand initially towards Seer's territory (I was in the right corner, SEER middle and Fluksen left), even though I was draconian and there was much more volcanic terrain to explore... My research was terrible and was never able to level any of my heroes or leader. When I finally started to explore the UG that was pretty much unexplored by anyone, the Indie parties were too strong for me and killed most of my units. It wasn't too long after that, that we started to get approached by our enemies, tbh, they started to do that like in turn 50~.. I should've have more than enough time to build up my army and economy... Never got any harassment from the other team until then.

Thank you everyone for the game!

Still think Fluks is in the game? So not over yet <smiletext0>

But anyways, good game, was a fun one, nice to try the chivalrous intentions and new arsenal to its full extent.

Too bad my orcs got nerfed half way through the game, I guess everything that looks too good to be true is not real

A special mention should go out to AIX who had one of the best games Ive ever seen, at least in terms of city building. Once age of magic gets going there is only one MVP tho :p

Thanks all for the game, was worth the time investment in 65+ turns.

damn markymark just had to berserk my starting hero who killed my leader comes to mind damn WL spell versus drunken female orc hero aka not hard to berserk intelligence level.....

i am not reporting for any score as i rarely ever do

i have hosted another large map 4v4 match with some mods in common as this one

it is however 3 layers map so be prepared to go deep as well as very strong def strength

The game doesn't let me load my game, it says that I'm running a newer version of the mod, before at least it was letting me launch it and a pop up was coming up asking me if a wanted to use that newer version, but now it's just not letting me, like if I didn't have all the requeired mods to play.

Could it be because I saved and exit and then the mod was updated? if that's the case, if my turn gets reverted by the host, would that make it work?

Deleting the game from my local PBEM folder worked (thanks $eer!) <smiletext0>
