So there are many things to test. It is best if we adopt a systemic method but we do not all have the time or interest to do it. So basically I am counting on you xlnt and Red Chameleon to be more systemic.

Basically, there are 3 main objectives:
1/ confirm that all that is on the Wiki page http://age-of-wonders-3.wikia... is in game (some stuff are not yet implemented, I'll list them when we start) and working as intended
2/ spot severe bugs that crash the game
3/ assess balance and bring adjustments

The 3rd aim is not a priority, in particular because we need many games to judge balance.

The priorities to achieve the objectives should be:

  • test all new units and all new abilities one by one

  • test all the new buildings

  • generate multiple maps to see how the RMG behave on the SR

  • test all the heroes

  • test all the pre-made Leaders

As you can see, all these cannot be achieved inside 1 PBEM game so it will be necessary to do some tests in solo or even maybe with the Map Editor.
We can split tests between ourselves, e.g. someone deals with the Archons, someone else with the SE racial units, etc. Let me know what you think (and again, I'm not expecting everyone in the game to do that, it's clearly on a voluntary basis; you can just play as usual and report bugs you chance upon too).

Set up info will come Friday.

Hello!

Nice to see that a second test is being launched!
@Xlnt here is a topic on the forum about the first game we did, many bugs have been reported already!
http://aow.triumph.net/forums/topic/shadow-realm-alpha-tests/page/2/

Maybe Hiliadan have a better overview of what we should look for.

In the first test we did I just reported things that I came across that looked/felt strange.
I guess you are used to a more "structured" test-enviroment? <smiletext0>

From my point of view I'm just happy to casual play the game and report bugs/errors as I see them.
The Shadow Elves was incredibly strong, what my initial units lacked in range power, they more than made up for in melee damage (combined with the fact you can get incorporeal+sprint so don't get hit so hard+drain all mp/ap from enemies).

So yes, balancing feedback as well as bug reporting is probably the main goal of this second test.

hi all,

glad to see we're ready for testing (:

What are the affected areas, are we looking for missing stuff that could call an exception or are we focused on balance and checking what is too easy/hard for the new units?

i'd like to have installation instructions too
