The match went pretty much like Sauna described - tourney rules were a bit of a shock at the beginning and I made quite a few dumb mistakes (losing my leader on day one being the first and desperately attacking a Tomb guarded by Dread Reaper being the worst), but I carefully analyzed each of them and learned a bit from my opponent as well.
I tried to find ways to tip the scales to my favour, but by turn 20-25 the game was too far gone. When I saw that enemy heroes were way ahead of mine, his every fort well guarded I decided to surrender - no sneak attack would get me out of this one. By the end of the game all I could do was sniping down his scouts (or rather sending my scouts on suicide missions against his, dread scouts are nasty) and waiting for inevitable defeat - there was no point in dragging this on any further.
All in all, a very educational game - and a pleasant opponent. Looking forward to a rematch

I can start anytime and will be able to play at least one turn per day, won't be setting a turn timer though. Despite of hating my constricted mountainous and swampy starting area, I did get a nice string of luck at the early game right before our first battle - a fire protection shrine right next to a sphinx temple, cleared on the same turn as seek inspiration revealed exalted martyrs, allowing me to instantly research it and receive my first exalted. Right after that there was also a convenient elf shrine on the way towards the enemy stack. With a little road-building I was able to surprise the enemy with a stack of the faster units, though not without losing my leader and an elite black knight in the process.
The following attack gave me an initial lead due to the economic damage inflicted, though scary assassins forced a retreat. After this point my lead wasn't all that great tbh, I only had a few martyrs in my cities and no gold or income to make anything expensive. Fortunately getting prime evil gave my leader the units to go and level the martyrs.
During the game I had a negative income almost all the time, at one point I was selling buildings to stay afloat. I also never felt safe, even after fully destroying Xlnt's economy. He was able to roam and keep a considerable army even with no economy. :p
A great opponent, fought to the end and gave me good advice. If it wasn't for the early luck, I would have probably lost, since he is definitely the more skilled player. Always up for a rematch.
(Btw, what happened with the stack with a shock trooper you took the dragon dwelling back with? Looks like it fully deserted?)
